Three cheers for Delamere.

April 23rd, 2012

Hip hip hooray!

Jasper and his owners recently wrote in to let us know how they all enjoy Delamere milk…It seems its not just humans that drink goats’ milk to help with their digestive systems. Woof Woof!

“Dear Delamere,

Here’s Jasper, our 13 year old Springer Spaniel, pictured with his favourite treat – Delamere goats’ Milk. Jasper receives daily medication for arthritis and takes it enthusiastically in a bowl of Delamere milk. Not only is it a great way of ensuring that he receives his medicines but it has the additional bonus of being gentle on his digestive system and we use it in our cooking too. So; three cheers for Delamere, your attention to animal welfare, and of course the wonderful goats’ that provide this delicious and nutritious milk.

How do you recycle your cartons?

April 3rd, 2012

Good afternoon!

Recently we realised that Delamere cartons make great flower pots, they have housed the office daffodils over the past couple of weeks. Kester has gone one better and recycled Delamere cartons by using them as building blocks. It looks like fun!

“Dear Delamere

I love drinking your yummy goats’ milk. I also love building towers – my mum helped me make this one from our empty milk cartons.

She says that drinking your milk will help me grow big and strong like a builder. At snack time I like eating your goats’ yogurt with honey to give me energy for more hard work.

Please give your goats a stroke and a pat from me, Kester, London”

We will certainly give the goats’ an extra stroke from you Kester. If you use Delamere cartons after you have used up all of your delicious milk for any reason, email info@delameredairy.co.uk.

Goats’ milk helps remove Adams cough.

March 13th, 2012

“Dear Delamere,

This is my grandson Adam, who is now nearly nine years old.   When he was two he suffered constant chest infections that produced a lot of mucus and made him cough, particularly at night.   There were many broken nights’ sleep for both him and his mum and things were grim.   I knew about goat’s milk as I was drinking it myself so suggested that Adam try it.

The difference was amazing; he no longer made the phlegm that was causing him to cough.

We are both still drinking Delamere because we like it so much!

Jo Clarke,

Leicestershire.”

Customers for life.

February 6th, 2012

John Calderon was kind enough to take some time to email in and let us know why he drinks Goats’ milk. If you have your own story please let us know via Facebook, Twitter or blog (info@delameredairy.co.uk).

“Around a year ago I felt my health was deteriorating, I was trying to deal with Otitis Media with Effusion or ‘gloo ear’ (which I’ve had since the day I was born), IBS and sinusitis.  I was always used to having at times really poor hearing, but what I couldn’t take anymore was the IBS symptoms, but equally as bad were the migraines I was getting as a result of my new sinus problems.  Everyday without fail, thumping sore heads, they were relentless.  Having tried every nasal steroid spray the doctor offered me, it was clear this wasn’t working.  It led me to do my own research on my conditions and I found out a few things about cows dairy and how that could have been exacerbating my problems.  I learned that my ‘gloo ear’ was caused by a build up of fluid in the middle ear, and that very many people with gloo ear develop often severe sinusitis. I then learned that people with IBS often have problems with cows dairy for two main reasons, lactose and the casein protein (which is different from the one in Goats’ milk).  When you can’t digest properly, and something irritates your gut, to protect itself and reduce inflammation it produces mucus, only problem is it won’t stop until it doesn’t need to defend itself anymore. I realised I was stuck in a vicious cycle; the mucus was definitely causing problems. I decided to switch to goats milk and avoided anything with cows dairy like it was the plague, nobody really trusted what I was saying to be honest but I had nothing to lose anyway.
The first thing I noticed or to be more accurate never noticed were the migraines. For the first time in months I didn’t have to take painkillers everyday, I could feel the benefits almost immediately, the swelling around my nasal and throat passages were going down and finally the mucus that the steroid sprays weren’t clearing was disappearing.  My IBS is so much more tolerable now I no longer suffer from the very sharp cramps I used to get everyday and have more typical bowel movements, my hearing has improved and although I’ve not had a hearing test done since before the change from cow to goats dairy I know from comparison my hearing is at times better than most of my friends now, which I’ve never been able to say before.  And my symptoms of sinusitis are completely gone now.  My son also has intolerance to cows dairy which we initially thought applied to all dairy; it affected him behaviourally though, as he has leaky gut syndrome and Autism.  With goats milk he gets all the benefits of dairy minus the negatives, and when we switched him, again it was pretty immediate, better sleeping pattern, much happier and more regular bowel movements.  We now use goats milk in all our home cooking from mashed potatoes to homemade yoghurt (for the pro-biotic my latest attack on my IBS!), to muffins, it goes brilliant in tea as well; it just seems to substitute perfectly in every recipe.
If I could click my fingers to make it so me and my son could tolerate cows dairy, I would, but I would still take Delamere Goats’ milk any day over it, not just because it tastes better or is healthier but because it turned my health around and me and my son just love it, I will never go back to the way things were and I’m glad I don’t need to.  Thank you for making this available to us, you have two customers for life in me and my son.  Congratulations and Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your lovely, tasty Goats’ milk.

Erica and Ewan have just emailed in this wonderful family story, if you and your family love Goats’ milk be sure to let us know via Facebook, Twitter or info@delameredairy.co.uk.

“Thank you for your lovely, tasty goat’s milk. When I was a toddler and started to drink cow’s milk, instead of being breastfed, I got eczema on my hands and face which felt itchy.

My Grandma suggested goat’s milk but Mummy didn’t think it would make a difference and tried to help me with different creams. When my Aunty visited from New Zealand and also suggested goat’s milk Mummy tried it at last and couldn’t believe how quickly my eczema disappeared!

When my little brother started to be weaned he went straight on to goat’s milk with me. I told my Granddad how yummy it is so he drinks it as well now in his coffee.

It was fun to find out that ‘Heidi’ drinks goat’s milk too when my Grandma read the story to me and I love dressing up as Heidi.

I enjoy helping to make creamy porridge and strawberry milkshake with goat’s milk and I think everyone should try it!

Erica age 5 and Ewan age 2 Blackburn, Lancashire.”

Strawberry Goatshake is certainly a favourite here – Thanks for emailing in, we hope you continue to enjoy our delicious Goats’ milk.
