Delamere celebrates the new era of Cheshire Cheese at RHS Tatton

July 30th, 2010

The Gold Award winning Cheshire East Garden ‘Cheshire Cheese Please’ featured a wedge of Cheshire cheese on a picnic rug complete with a Cheshire cat, mice, cherry tomatoes and a 6ft long wooden cheese knife. The Council was promoting the county’s cheesemaking heritage – traditional Cheshire cheese is thought to be the oldest cheese in the UK, and features in the Doomsday Book. We were there sampling our award winning Spreadable Goats’ Cheese along with a traditionally made Appleby’s Cheshire Cheese; demonstrating the two ends of Cheshire’s cheesemaking spectrum – from how cheesemaking began in Cheshire to the diverse cheeses made in the county today.

Award winning garden designer and TV presenter Chris Beardshaw came to the Cheshire East stand and enjoyed munching on the cheeses as did thousands of the public who attended the show last week.

Great Yorkshire Show votes Delamere Dairy Goats’ Cheese log with Herb – Simply Superb!

July 13th, 2010

Woop woop! We have won Supreme Champion Cheese at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show.  The cheese, which was only launched at the beginning of 2010, is a soft goats’ cheese log with added onion, chive, parsley, garlic and dill. It fought off competition from over nine hundred other entries across the dairy section to win the prestigious title of ‘Supreme Champion’ earlier today at the 3 day Harrogate event.

Ed Salt, Commercial Director of Delamere Dairy, who collected the Wm Morrison trophy was delighted saying “This is an outstanding achievement for Delamere Dairy; for our little herb cheese log to do so well in the company of such a high standard of cheese and dairy exhibits and be awarded champion at such a prestigious event makes us all extremely proud.” The judges praised the cheese for its full flavour and innovative packaging – the peel off lid which allows easy access and the cheese comes in a pre-sliced log which encourages healthy portion sizes for consumers.

The herb cheese log is ideal for salads being rich in flavour, works well in cooking in creamy sauces and would make a brilliant addition to any cheeseboard. The herb log is just one of three in Delamere Dairy’s soft cheese log range, the others being a delicious honey cheese log as well as the natural flavoured log. These cheeses are available in Booths supermarkets in Yorkshire and the Northwest of England as well as nationwide from Ocado online.
