Dear Delamere,
I want to tell you why I drink goats’ milk and how delighted I am that it is now so easy to find in the supermarkets.
I am a musician; a ‘cellist and pianist, classically trained. I found myself troubled with arthritis in the fingers which is not good news – the worst in fact. I went on a strict diet: no dairy, cheese, red meat etc etc and the arthritis calmed down. After two years of drinking soya milk my joints were O.K. but you know how soya milk tastes – no taste at all!
I read about goats’ milk being much less fatty and much more suited to humans than cows’ milk and found I liked the taste and liked its lighter consistency. I have had it ever since. It has helped me keep at an even weight. The arthritis has not come back, and now I try other goat products such as the tangy cheese which I like very much, and goat yoghurt.
By the way, my daughter kept a goat for a time. She was a British Toggenburgh and was very beautiful. We used to walk her to the nearby park and we called her Rosie. In the end she found her way into next door’s garden to eat the windfall apples by jumping the fence – she was amazingly graceful, but the neighjbour didn’t appreciate that. We took her to the Blue Cross Sanctuary near Oxford where she had a Billie just waiting for a lady partner.
Good luck with all you do.
Dorothy Harrison
Norfolk.
